IGALAPEDIA is an intervention project initiated by Abdul Mumin Yahaya to alleviate impacts of language imperialism on world minority langauges. We promote African Culture and Tradition while presenting Igala land, language and her people as a true portrayal of African identity, the project pilot program for developing indigenous Nigerian languages and also teach how to speak the Igala language. IGALA language is one of the major tribes in Nigeria, West Africa, they are found in Kogi State majorly to the east of River Niger and west of Benue-Niger confluence. Igalapedia teach people of all ages the Igala language while encouraging the native speakers to improve and sustain their ability in the the use of the dialects.
The project which started as a personal language learning app in 2009 was incorporated as IGALAPEDIA PROJECT in 2012. Igalapedia went through series of transformation over time and has been remodelled into a Heritage Social Medial Network (HECIAL) and a humanitarian service provider. The aforementioned remodelling gave birth to an NGO inline with CAC CAMA 1992 as incoporated trustee currently bearing IGALAPEDIA LANGUAGES AND CULTURAL DOCUMENTAION FOUNDATION.
As of 2012, We were registerred to publish books and build web based application for language studies and cultural documentation with particular attention to World Minority Languages and those on awaiting list of extinction. We identify what today's people like and thus utilising the power of social media network beyond connecting people in working toward accomplishment of agenda 4 and 17 of Sustainable Development Goal(s) and corresponding target(s). We built, host and maintain apps around the hype for harnessing resources to document and preserve African local content in electronic format.
